If we are in-network with your plan
We accept most Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans. If yours is one of them, we are in-network. We bill your insurer directly, and all co-pays and deductibles are due at time of service.
If we are not
Then we are out-of-network with your insurer. You pay at the time of your visit, and we give you a superbill; an itemized invoice you submit to your insurer for direct reimbursement to you.
Before you decide, call your insurer
Insurance language is built to be opaque. Three questions cut through most of it. Ask them about outpatient mental health care with a licensed psychotherapist (LCPC), and specify whether you mean in-network or out-of-network based on the above.
- Per-session coverage. How much does the plan cover for each outpatient appointment? This varies by plan and contract.
- Deductible. How much do you pay out of pocket before coverage kicks in? Once you know the number, self-paying is sometimes the more sensible choice.
- Annual maximum. What is the yearly cap on outpatient mental health coverage? A plan can pay well per session and still cap the year at, say, $500; low enough that the per-session rate stops mattering.
The answers tell you what your insurance is actually worth to you, so the choice stays yours.
Self-pay
Yes, you can self-pay. We accept both direct pay and some insurance. We take cash and credit card; Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Our Office Manager can walk you through the details.
